Hello/Bonjour/Konichiwa

Anybody and everybody feel free to ask anything, I will try to answer as best I can through the language barriers we share :P

Translate all my text which you cannot understand before asking, it can save the both of use a lot of headache!

The story starts with my car when I bought it 3 years ago :'( (time flys when you can't drive it)
Here are some pictures a month or two after purchasing it, I did not have my license at the time.

The car was babied by previous owner (ONLY 1!!!!!) He bought it from showroom in 1991 even though it is a 1990. He drove it very seldom, only during summer months, he would store it over winter and it was always maintained at the Mazda Dealer in town. He kept the car very stock, but not stock enough however. There is a HKS mushroom filter installed and a full racing beat exhaust, two of the possibly worst mods I could have asked for in my situation.... Bought with 147XXX km's
I bought it for $4000 when he was asking $5000 but it had a leaky ABS unit which I did not bother to replace because I was told "they are expensive and hard to find in Japan as you wont find one here"
I did a bit of looking into it and decided the best way to deal with it was to watch brake fluid levels and delete the ABS.

The car turned out to be what we thought was an amazing deal, but it quickly turned into giant head ache. Not because of any fault of the previous owner, but actually due to poor maintenance and terrible mazda technicians (kinda hard to believe they past mazda standards for rotaries).

I did not have any mechanical knowledge prior to purchasing the car, I bought it with the money I had saved up from my first part time job. My dad had limited mechanical ability but he did not share it much for when he was my age, he "did his share of tinkering" which ended up in a broken 280z and a flooded (accident) 300zx/fairlaidy Z31 (1st gen).

My first summer with the car and license, I was being very dumb, stupid, immature and childish. I was not thinking clearly or straight because I was so excited I had a vehicle, my dream car (anything RWD and decent power), but I truly did fall in love with FC's and rotary engines after I cooled down a bit...

So I blew a side seal my first summer with my vehicle. Me and dad take it to the Mazda Dealer as it was serviced there previously the whole older chapters of it's life. I'm in school and my dad texts me telling me that they quoted him $1300 in parts, I start RAGING in class, furious at those prices and told him not to bother I can get everything they are replacing in good enough condition with my great internet searching skills. Before we did anything though, we went down to Mazda to actually talk to the technician, he gave me the worst news (which I believe he was actually wrong, or half wrong at least).
He told me I had blown an Apex seal and that I would need a new engine but first they would check to see if the engine was salvageable and they needed to replace a BUNCH of stuff to be able to perform a compression test (such a lie lol).

After they did a compression test and I was told the numbers I knew the mechanic was full of shit and only knew what the manual was telling him and he wasn't even TRYING to understand.

After this load of crap, I said to myself and Dad;
Fuck them, we're NOT dealing with them, I know more about rotaries than that "qualified technician"
He quoted me $4k to send the motor to japan and have them refurbish it (not including freight and a 2 month shipping period)
Or he said they could send the motor to a shop here in canada that can refurbish it for $1500

But I chose to do it myself so I never have to deal with a mechanic who doesn't know anything again.

So here I am, 3 years later and only just getting my motor mounted to the engine stand, lol
Here's some pictures I took today;
Not mounted yet lol, but when I get another set of hand over here :P

Parts I have received (not all)
Image
Innovate Wideband and HKS Twin Power unit
Image
High Compression Rotors from S5 N/A
Image
FD Fuel pump, I know it's not THAT much more fuel, but with a rewire of my pump circuit it will be, for now ^-^
Image
New(er) HKS Filter
Image
Rebuild kit (minus Apex Seals) and rest of rotating assembly (minus e-shaft)
Image
New Custom headlights, you may have seen them before but they were custom made, it was a group buy on RX7club
Image
Comparing old filter with new filter, lol. There's a few more shots in case you wanted better look.

Old:

New(er):

Also had a mishap while I was at a local car event (Targa Newfoundland) with brake fluid :(
Image
So I have a new center console here as well

Seats still in original leather haha (lol so is the wheel but I forgot to get a picture - even more worn out)
Image

Image
Not intentional that it is at such a round figure

The other item that wasn't stock, haha. A very terrible and old unit, CD's skip over slightest bump, but hey, I'm not complaining, it has a remote! lol
Image

And ofc, no back seats
Image
Storage bins are way better!

I would get some more pictures of the car but it's in the garage and impossible to get a good shot of (bad light, small space, crap on the car).

I have a bit of a "different" view of how rotaries should be modified, and there is reasoning behind anything I have done (maybe not the greatest, but it definitely makes the most sense standing in my shoes). So if you are curious about something, do not hesitate to inquire!

Still missing a few parts to get it "back on the road" but I need a job first before I can buy them.

And I know this might sound weird but, I am grateful for drugs. I hate them because of the spot it put me in (kept me from doing what I want), but without them I would never have realized what I truly want to do with my life. Please just remember, everything has a place in life, take everything with a grain of salt and keep an open mind.

Thanks for joining us Buddy!

:ok:

Lots of work done on that FC already, keep it up! Those things are rare even in Japan (or should I say ESPECIALLY in Japan).
